Dortmund. Zur Halbzeit in Dortmund glaubte eigentlich auch der Trainer nicht mehr an ein Wunder. Nach dem sensationellen 4:4 schwärmt er von seinem Team.

Da saßen sie nun wie ein Häuflein Elend in der Kabine. Niedergeschlagen, fix und fertig. Sie hätten sich am liebsten verkrochen, aber sie mussten ja noch mal raus, es war ja erst Halbzeitpause. Wenn den Spielern des FC Schalke 04 in diesen 15 Pausen-Minuten jemand erzählt hätte, dass sie nach Abpfiff dieses irren Revierderbys bei Borussia Dortmund jubelnd vor dem Block ihrer mitgereisten Anhänger stehen würden, sie hätten demjenigen wohl einen Vogel gezeigt.

Auch Trainer Domenico Tedesco war während der Pause der Meinung, dass es “nicht gerade realistisch gewesen wäre, wenn wir gesagt hätten: Wir wollen jetzt hier noch 4:4 spielen”. Aber er musste etwas tun, und er tat etwas. Der 32-Jährige rief ein neues Ziel aus. Ein Ziel, das ihm erreichbar schien. Also sagte Tedesco zu seinen Spielern: “Lasst uns die zweite Halbzeit gewinnen.” Selbst mal treffen, kein Gegentor mehr zulassen, Ergebniskorrektur halt.

Tedesco wollte eine Totalblamage verhindern

Damit, dachte der Trainer, könne man sein Gesicht wahren, eine Totalblamage verhindern. An ein Wunder habe er zur Halbzeit selbst nicht geglaubt, gab Tedesco nach dem Spiel zu. “Niemals, da bin ich ehrlich.” Denn auch ihm steckte in seinem ersten Revierderby ja diese Vielzahl an erschreckenden Erlebnissen in den Knochen. “Die Dortmunder haben uns in der Anfangsphase überrollt”, sagte Tedesco. “Wir waren konsterniert. Jeder Schuss ein Treffer. Das ist die Hölle.”

Aber nun redete er auf seine Spieler ein und erklärte ihnen, dass “uns eine solche Geschichte auch charakterlich und mental noch mal nach vorne bringen kann”. Die zweite Halbzeit gewinnen. Das war ein erreichbares Ziel. Mit diesem Gedanken gingen seine Jungs raus.

Zwei wichtige Korrekturen nach einer halben Stunde

Zuvor hatte Tedesco schon nach einer halben Stunde zwei wichtige Korrekturen vorgenommen. Er brachte den strategisch und fußballerisch starken Leon Goretzka, der wochenlang wegen einer knöchernen Stressreaktion im Unterschenkel gefehlt hatte, für den übermotivierten Weston McKennie, der vor einem Platzverweis gestanden hatte. Und er schickte den schnellen und mutigen Amine Harit für den harmlosen Franco Di Santo ins Rennen. Zwei richtig gute Wechsel, die aber zu spät zu kommen schienen.

Tedesco widersprach, dass es mit diesen beiden Spielern in der Anfangsformation besser hätte laufen können: “Wir haben nicht falsch aufgestellt. Die ersten vier Chancen für den BVB gingen rein. Ich glaube, da hätte jeder auf dem Platz stehen können.”

Aber als nach Guido Burgstallers 1:4 Turbofußballer Amine Harit auf 2:4 verkürzte, da fragten sich die Schalker plötzlich: Kann hier doch noch was gehen? “Da fängst du natürlich an zu überlegen”, erzählte Tedesco. “Und nach dem 3:4 haben wir dann alle daran geglaubt.”

Dieses 3:4 durch Daniel Caliguiris schönen Schuss war ein Willensakt. Und das 4:4 durch Naldos Kopfball in der Nachspielzeit war dann die verdiente Belohnung für diese unglaubliche Steigerung in der zweiten Hälfte.

“Schalke hat heute bewiesen, dass Schalke Charakter hat”, sagte Domenico Tedesco, als die emotionale Tortur endlich vorbei war. “Die zweite Halbzeit war ein ganz großer Schritt in die richtige Richtung.”

"Riesenstimmung" nach dem Spiel in der Schalke-Kabine

Dann erzählte er noch, in der Kabine sei gerade “eine Riesenstimmung”. Er begann gerade damit, eine Ansprache zu halten, als ihn die Spieler jäh unterbrachen und immer wieder “Derbysieger, Derbysieger” riefen.

Und weil er nicht den Partycrasher spielen wollte, gab Domenico Tedesco seinen Jungs für Sonntag sofort mal trainingsfrei.
